The county's K-12 program is administered by the Jenkins County Board of Education.
Jenkins County Schools are working to continue a tradition of
excellence. Partnering with parents and other community members, the
schools are working diligently to provide students with a safe learning
environment and with opportunities to learn and grow in ways that will
help them to become good citizens and productive adults. They recognize
that what they do today for their students will greatly impact the
future of the community, and they are serious in their mission to be an
exemplary school system.
Jenkins County School System is comprised of Jenkins County Elementary
School for grades Pre-K - 5, Jenkins County Middle School for grades 6-8
and Jenkins County High School for grades 9-12. Jenkins County
Elementary School has been identified as a Title I Distinguished School,
and Jenkins County High School received recognition in U.S. News & World
Report “Best High Schools 2008” and recognition from the Georgia
Department of Education as one of 25 schools with the most improved ACT
scores. Jenkins County Middle School has been recognized as a 2008
Writing to Win Exemplary School of Writing. When compared with area
schools, the school district takes pride in competitive test scores as
it ranks near the top in all content areas.
