Welcome to the site of the office of the Clerk of Superior, State, and Juvenile Courts in Jenkins County, Georgia in the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit. 

The mission of our office is to provide the public with the highest level of personal and professional service possible.  We invite you to contact us to discuss any questions you may have or to see how we may be able to assist in meeting your needs.

The Superior Court was established under the Constitution of 1798 and is the highest court in each circuit.  It is a court of record, meaning all records, documentation, and minutes filed in this office cannot be altered after filing.

The Clerk of Superior Court is an elected official and a constitutional officer.  The Superior Court Clerk’s Office is a vital entity for all branches of the judicial system.  The office of the Clerk of Superior, State, and Juvenile Courts is responsible for:

  1. Filing, recording, and indexing all documents related to real estate within Jenkins County, including deeds, plats, and cancellations
  2. Filing and processing for service of all divorces, adoptions, name changes, child support, change of custody, contempt, and other domestic cases
  3. Filing and processing all juvenile cases
  4. Filing and processing for service all civil matters relating to suit on account, condemnations, appeals from the magistrate and probate courts, writs of possession, tort, insurance, and other civil cases
  5. Filing, recording, and indexing all judgments, tax liens, and fi fa’s
  6. Filing and processing all indictments, accusations, and sentences on all felony and misdemeanor cases
  7. Processing sentencing packages for Department of Corrections for transfer of prisoners into the state system
  8. Filing and processing all Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) financing statements showing liens on personal property for public notice
  9. Filing and recording Honorable Discharges from the armed services (Form DD214)
  10. Passport application forms
  11. Notary Public applications and appointments
  12. Preparing records of all appeal cases in the civil, domestic, and criminal divisions for the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia

2008-2009 FEES:

FILING FEES – CIVIL CASES:

$81.00 filing fee
$25.00 service fee

RECORDING FEES – DEEDS, LIENS, UCC FINANCING STATEMENTS, ETC.:

$10.00 for first page of instrument (includes indexing 4 names)*
$ 2.00 for each additional page (applies to ALL recording)
$ 1.00 indexing fee for each additional name to be indexed after       initial 4 names (Ex.:  If 6 names are on an instrument, an    additional indexing fee of $2.00 is charged) (applies to ALL recording)

$ 8.00 for plats (each page)

$ 7.00 for each assignment of security instrument (per instrument    being assigned)

$ 5.00 for Fi. Fa.’s, tax liens, hospital liens

$ 2.50 for certified copy (plus $0.25 per page)

 * for releases/satisfactions/modifications of instruments, fee is $12.00 per document being released, canceled, or modified

TRANSFER TAX = .001 of amount of sale

INTANGIBLE TAX = .003 of loan amount (rounded up to next         $500 increment) (due if maturity date is more than            three years from the date of the note)

(NOTE: If security instrument is more than three months old at the time of recording, you must add penalty and interest to the intangible tax.  Penalty is one-half of the original tax amount, and interest is one percent of the original tax per month.)
